This level is not Basic, it is Beginner. For some, beginner Level means the study of grammar or of a few basic sentences. In that case, they should start with the - SmartFrench Introduction to French, Vol.1 and Vol.2 -. The best is to study both sides simultaneously, understanding (with this cdrom) and speaking (with the introduction to French). The CDROM contains all three levels and some extras, as well as the videos of the interviews on which the lessons are based (to see people when they speak always helps and it s fun.)
